Gross earnings is the amount of God's provision, and the tithe should be based on one-tenth of God's provision. Taxes are generally considered payment for the privileges and services provided by the government. Though scripture doesn't necessarily use the literal terms "net" or "gross," it is important to note that the spirit in which we give is of greatest value to God. He tells us in II Corinthians 9 that "each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give; not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver."
The bible tells us to give and that it will be given back to you, good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over. You can't out give God, and there is always enough money to tithe as long as it is taken off the top of your income. Tithing is a faith step that God will do more with our 90% than what we could do on our own with 100%.
Spend time in prayer and reading God's word. He will show you His everlasting truth.
We do offer the ability to give with debit cards. We understand that many people don't use cash or checks frequently. Giving with your debit card is a convenient way to honor God with your finances. You can give with a debit card during a weekend worship experience or online.
Depending on which is more feasible for your situation, you can handle tithing with a fluctuating income in a couple of different ways. Some people choose to give exactly one-tenth of their earnings for each individual pay-period. Others estimate their total earnings for the year and give a portion of the total tithe each week throughout the year.
